The Pavement Life Cycle

We’re often asked, “How long does pavement last?” Unfortunately, there’s no simple answer. Factors such as traffic loads, rain, landscape runoff, sunlight, underlying soil conditions, and the quality of the original construction all combine to determine the longevity of the asphalt surface.

Another component of longevity is the type and quality of work performed to repair and maintain the pavement and lay the groundwork for future rehabilitation. Properly aligning maintenance cycles and thinking about each stage as a stepping stone to the next helps prolong the life of the pavement, lower costs in the long-term, and keep it looking its best year after year.

To help you see the overall picture and shed some light on factors you may never have considered, we’ve produced a new video called, “The Pavement Life Cycle”. Put your feet up, groove out to the soundtrack, take a look and give us your feedback. We also encourage you to share this video with your friends and colleagues over popcorn and sodas. Maybe we’ll even make the next one in 3D.

Enjoy, and see you next time.
